Our Appeal

Imagine a classroom designed to withstand a cyclone, where first-generation learners are breaking the cycle of poverty through holistic education.

Every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and dream beyond their circumstances. Yet, many children in the Sundarbans face barriers such as poverty, poor learning resources, malnutrition, and limited access to opportunities. Moreover, today more than 50% of the male folk have migrated outside the state in search of employment, leaving the wives and children to thrive on their own.

Through the Child Sponsorship Programme, Swapnopuron Welfare Society supports vulnerable, single-parent supported, first-generation learners with access to quality education, nutrition, mentorship, learning materials, and holistic development opportunities. The programme focuses on strengthening foundational literacy and numeracy, improving school attendance and retention, promoting emotional and physical well-being, and building confidence through life skills, sports, creative learning, and leadership activities.

The programme also engages parents, teachers, and community members to create a safe and supportive environment where children can thrive. Special attention is given to children at risk of dropping out of school and those from economically disadvantaged families.

Project Objective:

  • To ensure uninterrupted access to quality education for underprivileged children through academic support, school readiness, and learning resources.
  • To improve children’s physical, emotional, and social well-being through nutrition, healthcare awareness, and psychosocial support.
  • To strengthen foundational literacy, numeracy, digital literacy, and 21st-century skills among children.
  • To reduce school dropout rates and improve attendance, retention, and academic performance.
  • To provide a safe, inclusive, and child-friendly learning environment for holistic development.
  • To support life skills, leadership, creativity, sports, and co-curricular development among children.
  • To engage parents and caregivers in children’s education and development through regular counselling and awareness sessions.
  • To improve child protection awareness and create a supportive ecosystem for vulnerable children.
  • To empower children from marginalized communities with opportunities for confidence-building and future preparedness.
  • To build sustainable community support systems for child development through partnerships and local participation.
