Animal Rescue and Care (ARC) is a kolkata based NGO registered under trust act in 2016 that has been working for the welfare of stray animals and their rights. Two individual animal lovers Somak Chatterjee and Titas Mukherjee have been running this shelter cum hospital since 2014. The main objective of this organization is to create a better world for the voiceless friends by spreading awareness among people so that people live in harmony with the less privileged ones and defend their rights.
Journey of ARC:
ARC started its journey within the small premises of own house only with a few rooms and a small kennel. But with the passing of time and increasing demand of welfare activities, ARC felt the urgency to expand with a bigger shelter cum rehabilitation center. And now ARC has two different shelters, the old one located in Kolkata District and a bigger rehabilitation shelter in Burdwan District.
Activity of ARC:
ARC’ rescues animals those are ill or injured or animals those are subject to torture and abuse. ARC provides them relief, treatment, adequate care and a safe Refuge. ARC also provides shelter to senior and differently abled street dogs.
ARC conducts regular and organized ABC programs, proper Vaccination, De-worming and feeding drives with an aim that one day there will be no animal going to sleep with a hungry tummy or without a roof above his/her head.
Goal of ARC:
ARC’s goal is to open rescue centre in every district of West Bengal to rescue and treat animals as many as possible. Also aiming to open a special shelter for animals where all the contagious diseases can be treated since these types of cases cannot be admitted in present setup due to absence of isolation ward. ARC also fights legal battles to achieve a dream that someday in India a strictest law will be enforced for animal abusers.
Project Paws 100 is a focused, high-impact campaign dedicated to transforming animal welfare in the Thakurpukur area. By centering operations within this specific neighbourhood, the initiative aims to create a highly visible, measurable difference in community animal health and safety.
