LittleBigHelp India Trust established in 2012 and founded by Lisbeth Johansen works to create better opportunities for the most vulnerable children and women in West Bengal, India. It strives to secure basic child rights such as child protection, education, women’s empowerment through skill development, promotion of mental health and creating awareness for social issues through various campaigns. Each year, the organization is reaching out to 3500 individuals directly and 30,000  individuals indirectly through various projects across West Bengal, mainly Kolkata and Howrah covering 12 urban slums.
Institutional Care – There are two hostels, one for girls and one for boys run by LittleBigHelp in Behala, Kolkata, where the children are looked after 24x7x365 days. They are provided with all the necessary amenities. The children go to government schools and are tutored too in the hostels by external tutors. Extra -curricular activities like dancing, drawing, yoga, games and sports keep the children engaged. They have regular health check-ups and visit their homes during festivals.
Non Institutional Care – There are 12 Community Centres functioning under LittleBigHelp in Kolkata and Howrah wherein 475 children (6 – 14 years of age) are informally prepared for school in the last year. They are provided with supplementary meals in the centres. The older children studying in higher classes are given tuition support and computer training.
Skill Development – Skill development trainings are conducted for unemployed and underemployed youth and women in various slum communities as well as in Government schools. The courses include beautician training, handmade jewelry making, tailoring, phlebotomy, driving, pharmacy assistance, food and beverage services, and barber training. These programs are offered directly or in collaboration with certified institutions. After completion, participants are supported with job placements and start-up support along with one year of follow-up support. In 2024, nearly 500 individuals successfully acquired new skills through these initiatives.
🌸 Give Her the Power to Rebuild Her Life 🌸
This year, LittleBigHelp is on a mission to transform the lives of 40 women from urban slums by equipping them with Beautician Training—a skill that can open doors to financial independence and dignity.
These women come from some of the most vulnerable backgrounds. Many are school dropouts, married too early, or struggling with domestic violence. Most have never had the chance to earn their own income. With no skills or opportunities, they remain trapped in cycles of poverty and dependency.
But together, we can change that.
Through a 7-month certified Beautician Training, these women will gain not just technical skills, but also knowledge on rights and entitlements, health, communication, personality grooming, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship. Each graduate will receive a certificate, a business start-up kit, and job placement support—helping them step into a future of independence and respect.
To make this possible, we are seeking to raise ₹4,60,000 (part cost of the training). With your support, we can give 40 women the tools they need to stand tall, earn with dignity, and rebuild their lives.
✨ Your contribution is more than charity—it is hope, empowerment, and freedom.
