Kolkata Hunar — Hunar in every heart, hope in every home.
Kolkata Hunar, a not-for-profit organization, was registered in the year 2016 under the West Bengal Societies Act xxvi of 1961. We aim to focus on the holistic development for needy underprivileged individuals through various services and events so that they can contribute effectively at a personal, professional, and societal level.
In the crowded lanes of Kolkata, some children dream beyond their means, and women who silently carry hopes for a better tomorrow. Kolkata Hunar was born to give those dreams a chance.
For a child, it might be the joy of holding a book for the very first time, the courage to step onto a stage and dance, or the magic of discovering a hidden spark of creativity that no one else noticed before. And for a woman, it could be the strength to pick up a needle, a brush, or a pair of scissors — not just to learn stitching, beauty, makeup, or hairdressing, but to stitch dignity into her life, wash away her struggles, and shape a future where she can stand tall with pride.
At Kolkata Hunar, we believe that “Hunar” (talent) lives in every heart, waiting to shine. All it takes is a little guidance, a safe space, and the belief that they are worthy.

In the bustling lanes of Tanti Bagan, the children of daily wage workers often grow up on the streets, their classrooms no bigger than the pavements where they play, and their textbooks replaced by the struggles of survival. While other children begin their journeys in Montessori schools that charge lakhs for basic education, these little ones are left behind — their dreams dimmed before they even get a chance to shine.
At Kolkata Hunar, we believe that every child deserves the gift of learning, and every woman deserves the dignity of independence. That is why we are launching a fundraising campaign to raise ₹30 lakhs to expand our Kids Paradise, a Free Play School in Tanti Bagan for these children, and to encourage our Women’s Empowerment programs through skill-based courses like stitching, beautician training, makeup artistry, and hairdressing.
But this year, our hearts are heavier. Humanity is hurting in many corners of the world. The cries from Punjab, devastation in Punjab’s flood-hit villages, and the daily battles of our own women in Kolkata remind us that compassion cannot have boundaries.
That is why, through the TSW25K Kolkata Marathon 2025, every step we run and every donation we raise will carry forward a promise of hope — not just for one cause, but for many.
