SNP+ is a professionally managed committed CBO actively working for community capacity building and issue based networking and advocacy. The primary focus of SNP+ is on the problems of people living with HIV/AIDS in their struggle to obtain a life of justice and dignity. Environment stabilization, security, empowerment and improving the quality of life of community people living with HIV/AIDS for self-governance, are the most important components of its mission. Gender justice, community health and livelihood, child education and social security are our primary areas of concern.
Construction of Integrated Rehabilitation & Resource Centre for HIV Infected & Affected Women, Children, Street Children and Homeless Women in South 24 Parganas, West Bengal
South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal continues to face significant socio-economic and public health challenges among vulnerable populations, particularly People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA), orphan and vulnerable children, homeless women and street-connected children. Although awareness and treatment facilities have improved over the years, the affected individuals continue to experience social stigma, emotional trauma, economic insecurity and lack of proper rehabilitation support.
According to various public health reports and field-level observations, HIV infected and affected women and children often face neglect, social exclusion, limited livelihood opportunities and inadequate access to safe shelter and psychosocial support. Many widowed women, orphan children and homeless individuals are compelled to live in highly vulnerable conditions without proper healthcare, education or emotional care.
The proposing organization has been working at the grassroots level with marginalized and vulnerable communities and has identified the urgent need for a dedicated rehabilitation and support centre in the region. The organization already possesses its own land in South 24 Parganas, which provides a strong foundation for developing a permanent institutional facility for community welfare.
In view of this, the organization proposes the construction of an “Integrated Rehabilitation & Resource Centre” that will function as a safe residential and service delivery hub for HIV infected and affected women, children, street children and homeless women.
Project Objective:
1. To construct a safe, inclusive and sustainable rehabilitation home for HIV infected and affected women, children, street children and homeless women.
2. To provide shelter, protection, healthcare support, counselling and rehabilitation services for vulnerable beneficiaries.
3. To create a dignified environment for formal and informal education, life skills and vocational development.
4. To strengthen livelihood opportunities and self-dependence among women and caregivers through income generation activities.
5. To establish a community-based rehabilitation and linkage centre connected with government hospitals, schools and welfare institutions.
6. To reduce stigma, discrimination and social exclusion faced by People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA).
7. To improve health, psychosocial wellbeing and quality of life through integrated care and rehabilitation services.
8. To create a long-term institutional infrastructure that can sustainably serve vulnerable communities in South 24 Parganas.
