The primary objective of the project is to enhance climate change adaptation practices, thereby making the target community more resilient. [Communities are facing the severe brunt of climate impacts with multi-hazard catastrophic events like cyclones and floods, causing significant damage to livelihood, property, and lives. The project is initiated because of frequent disasters taking place and aims to make people more climate resilient and have food security. The project addresses issues of disaster preparedness and mitigation through strengthening human resilience capacity, focusing onthe livelihood and food security of the targeted population. The public awareness raising is the process through which people living in flood-prone areas are sensitized on specific dangers of the flooding – educating, informing, and warning the community about floods and helped them become better prepared to respond to disaster emergencies and will less dependence on outside assistance or external intervention. The project will focus on enhancing human resilience capacity building on climate change through conservation agriculture approaches. The community people will be impacted, and the project will cover 250 families of Satjelia and Chhotomollakhali GP, in Gosaba block of 24th South Pargana District, West Bengal state of India.]
Appeal 2: Education and Sports: Taekwondo and vocational training
In the Sundarbans, safety and health are pressing concerns, particularly for the girl children. The children in Satjelia and Chhotomollakhali need access to structured physical activities that not only promote health and fitness but also teach self-defence skills. Taekwondo, a martial art known for its physical and mental benefits, is an ideal solution to address these needs. The project SHAKTI aims to empower these children, ensuring they grow up confident, healthy, and capable of defending themselves. Apart from that, Sundarbans as a whole is home to many naturally talented individuals whose potential, if nurtured properly, can lead to significant success at national and international levels. By providing these children with structured training and opportunities, Diptam Foundation aims to unlock their potential by opening doors to careers in Sports, Police, Defence and other government sectors. Such opportunities not only elevate individual lives but also contribute to the socio-economic development of the entire community.
