The Indian Society for Rural Development (ISRD) is a grassroots voluntary organization working across Ganjam, Gajapati, and Nabarangpur districts of Odisha. With over 38 years of dedicated service, ISRD focuses on empowering fisherfolk, tribal communities, and other marginalized groups through a rights-based and inclusive approach. The organization’s core interventions span five thematic areas: Peace and Justice, Quality Education, Health and Wellbeing, Livelihood Promotion, and Climate Action with Environmental Sustainability, aiming to create resilient, self-reliant, and equitable rural communities.

Education is the foundation of a better future, yet many tribal and fisherfolk children living in remote and climate-vulnerable areas of Gazalbadi and Kottur Panchayats face challenges in accessing basic educational materials. A simple school bag can make a significant difference by helping children safely carry their books, notebooks, and learning materials to school.
The Indian Society for Rural Development (ISRD) aims to provide quality school bags to 379 children studying in government primary and upper primary schools in Gazalbadi and Kottur Panchayats of Ganjam District, Odisha.
Through this initiative, we seek to encourage regular school attendance, improve learning readiness, and support children from economically vulnerable families.

The project will be implemented in Gazalbadi and Kottur Panchayats of Ganjam District, Odisha. These areas include remote tribal villages and climate-vulnerable fishing communities with limited access to educational resources and livelihood opportunities.
