Kankura Masat Social Welfare Society (KMSWS) stands as a beacon of community-based development, having been established in 1999 by a group of like-minded individuals committed to addressing developmental challenges in the region. Nestled in the village of Kankura Masat within the South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, our organization operates in a diverse community that faces environmentaly challenges and rich locations while being situated close to the Sunderban delta and the Bay of Bengal.Over the years, KMSWS has been unwavering in its dedication to community development, focusing on various thematic areas to uplift and empower the local population. Our initiatives span the spectrum, including a commitment to providing quality education, creating sustainable livelihood opportunities, and championing environmental conservation to combat climate change. We also actively work towards improving health-seeking behaviors and bolstering the public system to make development processes more accessible to and empowering for the community.In essence, KMSWS serves as a catalyst for positive change in the community, employing a holistic approach to address the multifaceted needs of the region. Integrated Education, Climate Resilience and Livelihood Development Initiative
Kankura Masat Social Welfare Society (KMSWS), established in 1999, is a grassroots organisation working to improve the quality of life of vulnerable communities in the Sundarbans through participatory and sustainable development approaches.
The organisation operates Tiyas School and several remedial learning centres, benefiting hundreds of children annually. Its work spans across improving foundational education, promoting STEM learning, strengthening teacher capacity, and building livelihood opportunities—particularly for women.
This project aims to adopt a holistic and integrated approach, combining education, climate awareness, and livelihood development to build resilience among children and their families.
