I am a passionate kolkata ultra runner, working as a Process consultant for an IT firm. I got introduced to Running about a decade back. Long distance running and training for it has given me that balance I was looking for in life and has taught me patience, perseverance n increased my endurance levels and fitness which also helps me in managing the daily rigmarole of life with ease.
Agree, Life is not always easy, but running comes for my rescue at major cross roads and has given a purpose to my Life. I started to think of ways to spread long distance running amongst women and also leverage it for various social causes and got introduced to “Run for cause” through philanthropy chapter of procam almost 8yrs back. Ever since running became my anchor for social causes, adding meaning to my life. This picked up more traction and all the year round involvement when pinkathon reached Kolkata n I was instrumental in driving training for fitness and endurance for running in various pockets through a strong team of passionate ambassadors for training visually impaired gals n running with them as allies, training acid attack survivors women, cancer survivors, baby wearing mom’s and rans women. This added dimensions to the social causes that can be driven through running and I ended up getting more involved n building a community of like minded runners who are now associated with Philanthropy chapter of Procam.
This year, I have taken a pledge to associate all my major runs with some social cause and create awareness and generate funds in support of the campaign.
I have decided to do Procam Slam Charity campaign and participating in Tata Steel World, Kolkata (TSW25K) in support of “Rescue and Relief Foundation” which is an NGO helping orphans, trafficked, abused and cancer affected children nationwide. Do join hands with me and run for raising awareness against human trafficking and child abuse.
