As a long-distance ultra runner, I believe endurance can be a powerful force for positive change. The values that ultra running instills in me, including commitment, resilience, perseverance, and teamwork, inspire me to go beyond personal achievement and support meaningful causes. Through fundraising initiatives, I aim to transform every mile into an opportunity to raise awareness, mobilize support, and make a tangible difference in the lives of those and communities in need.
As a long-distance ultra runner, I have learned that every great journey is completed one step at a time. Every mile requires endurance, determination, and the belief that the destination is worth reaching. Today, I want to dedicate that journey to something far greater than a finish line—the future of vulnerable children.
Tata Steel World 25K (TSWK) is not only a premier running event that celebrates fitness and the spirit of running; it also creates an opportunity to turn every step into meaningful social impact. Through its philanthropic platform, I am proud to support Divine Script Society (DSS) Kolkata, which is working to raise funds for a child development programme for children living in some of the most vulnerable slum communities of Kolkata, particularly Tangra Bustee near Dhapa Bypass.
For these children, growing up with limited access to education, healthcare, nutritious food, and a safe environment can make their journey towards a better future incredibly difficult. DSS Kolkata is taking a holistic approach to child development, bringing together educational support, healthcare, nutrition, wellbeing, and a nurturing environment to help these children learn, grow, and build a better future.
This cause has made me pause and reflect on how privileged many of us are to be born into families where education, healthcare, nutritious food, and opportunities are often taken for granted. For a child growing up in a vulnerable community, these basic necessities can be life-changing opportunities.
