About Us

Foundation for innovation in Heath (FIH), a not-for-profit organisation established in 2013 focuses on two primary thematic areas – Health & Education. with an overarching purpose at reducing Multidimensional Poverty (MDP) among the rural underserved.

Education – We have set up multiple schools (SFS Academy) in five (5) states of India for training underserved rural youths as Allied Health Professionals. With 70% girl students and 65% students from marginalised communities, the program also results in women empowerment and societal upliftment.

Health – We established “Uday” – doctor at doorstep, a data-driven, technology-enabled, last-mile, comprehensive primary care and public health delivery system catering to physical, mental, and dental health requirements of the rural underserved. This is operated by Community Health Workers (CHW), particularly women; and supported by a team of remote Doctors. Uday operates in a cluster model, each cluster having 1 fixed centre (300 sft) and 2 mobile units on bi-cycle that visits door to door, even in the remotest areas. For the riverine Sunderban islands, the same services are delivered through a purpose-modified motor-boat

Our Appeal

Our 3T model is a unique proposition that integrates Trained rural youth, Task shifting from doctors to community health workers (CHWs), and is seamlessly unified through frugal innovations in Technology. Uday, our data-driven clinical decision support software, can be easily used by the CHWs even in low band-width and enables them to act as a bridge between the community and doctors. Multiple disruptively affordable diagnostic devices innovated through collaboration with IITs (Kharagpur and Guwahati) ensure access to tests. Through the mobile units (cycles), CHWs ensure that healthcare services reach even the most remote populations.

The integration of technology ensures that the model remains scalable and adaptable, even in the face of changing healthcare landscapes.

In essence, FIH’s 3T model is more than just a healthcare delivery framework; it is a blueprint for health systems transformation. It combines innovation, inclusivity, and sustainability to create a future where underserved populations are no longer left behind but instead rise up, healthier and more empowered.

Access to basic healthcare remains elusive for many in rural West Bengal, particularly for marginalized communities in regions like the Sunderbans. This is where “Uday – Doctor at Doorstep steps in. Supported by a robust digital platform and frugal innovative diagnostics developed in partnership with IIT Kharagpur and IIT Guwahati, Uday brings essential healthcare to the most underserved communities.

Reaching the Last-Mile Population

Each year, over 15,000 patients benefit from Uday’s services at an average cost of Rs. 250/- per patients including all services & medicines. Yet, countless individuals cannot afford even this, struggling instead to secure basic sustenance. Your contribution can bridge this gap and enable us to offer healthcare free of charge to those most in need.

Empowering the Future through Education: Sponsorship for Girl Children

In the traditional gender-biased environment, education of the girl child is often neglected, thus some of them dropping out every year from our AHP courses. We also invite you to support education of girl students through scholarships that empowers them to succeed professionally and lift themselves out of poverty.
