Founded in 2017, the Shree Ranjit Foundation is a registered NGO dedicated to empowering underserved communities through education, healthcare, and sports. Our Athlete Development Programme is designed to identify and nurture young talent from under-resourced regions, providing them with the tools and support needed to excel in sports.
The foundation’s primary objective is to provide funding and support to various charitable causes and self-help groups. Through their efforts, the foundation aims to inspire and improve the lives of those who require assistance. The foundation’s initiatives are aimed at addressing critical issues and making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals who are facing challenges.
Need and Rationale for scaling of Athlete Development Program: Despite many challenges, most of our athletes managed to show exceptional talent and won various competitions. However, the lack of infrastructure, coaching, and equipment significantly limits the overall potential and performance of athletes from these areas. By addressing these issues, there is a potential to significantly enhance the performance of athletes and provide more opportunities.
The need for scaling up the Athlete Development Programme is underscored by several factors:
* Talent Utilisation: There is an urgent need to harness and nurture the latent talent in these villages. Proper training and resources can help these athletes reach their full potential.
* Economic Opportunities: Developing athletic skills can open up various economic opportunities for these individuals, including scholarships, sponsorships, and professional sports careers.
* Community Development: Sports can play a crucial role in community building and social cohesion. A successful sports programme can inspire community pride and involvement.
Goals:
* To enhance the performance and capabilities of under-resourced athletes.
* To provide holistic support, including physical as well as mental development.
* To create a sustainable and replicable model for athlete development.
The Problem:
India has immense potential for producing world-class athletes, but unfortunately, many talented sportsmen and women are forced to abandon their dreams due to financial constraints. Lack of access to proper nutrition, training facilities, and resources hinders their performance, leading to a significant gap between India’s athletic potential and actual achievements.
The Statistics:
– 70% of India’s athletes come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
– 60% of athletes drop out of sports due to financial difficulties.
– India ranks 47th in the Global Hunger Index, affecting athletes’s nutrition and performance.
The Consequences:
– Untapped talent: Potential medal-winners are lost due to lack of support.
– Limited international success: India’s athletic achievements fall short of expectations.
– Socio-economic impact: Athletes’s families struggle to make ends meet, perpetuating poverty.
Our Intervention:
Shree Ranjit Foundation, a non-profit organization, aims to bridge the gap between India’s athletic potential and actual achievements. Our comprehensive program addresses the critical areas of:
How We Will Make a Difference:
– Identify and nurture 100 talented underprivileged athletes annually.
– Provide resources for their growth and success.
– Foster a supportive community, promoting camaraderie and national pride.

– Currently, we support 61 athletes and would wish to support 500 athletes from disadvantaged backgrounds within 5 years.
