An Appeal for Support _ Empowering Ragpickers and Waste Handlers Across West Bengal
Every day, thousands of ragpickers work tirelessly in cities across the state, quietly performing a task that is critical to maintaining public health and environmental sustainability. Despite their invaluable contributions, these individuals and their families often live in conditions of extreme poverty, lacking access to necessities such as clean water, proper housing, healthcare, and education. They face discrimination and social exclusion, all while helping our society by ensuring waste is collected, sorted, and recycled so that we can live in cleaner, healthier environments.
We are writing to seek your kind support for the empowerment and upliftment of ragpickers, waste handlers, and waste collectors, who serve as the backbone of our waste management system.
We have developed a strong connection with the ragpicker community through years of work on the ground. From Kolkata’s bustling streets to the quiet villages in rural West Bengal, we are actively engaging with these unsung heroes of waste management, providing them with training, protective gear, and advocating for their rights to a dignified livelihood.
So for the welfare of these ragpickers community, we are appealing with the following objectives:
We are appealing for financial assistance from organizations especially corporates and individuals who recognize the importance of this cause. With your support, we can expand our programs and provide vital services to more ragpickers and their families, improving their quality of life and ensuring they receive the respect they deserve.
Your contribution will help us:
By supporting BITAN, you will be contributing not only to the betterment of the ragpicker community but also to the environmental well-being of the most marginalised section of the society. Every rupee you donate helps us take another step towards a cleaner, more sustainable future where no one is left behind.
We humbly request your generous support in making this vision a reality. Let’s join hands to recognize and reward the hard work of those who keep our cities clean and safe. The whole team of BITAN is looking forward to your kind consideration. If you would like to discuss how you can contribute further or need any additional information, please feel free to contact us.
